~~Gráinne Ní Mháille~~ Ana Cristina Coto-Samuel (c. 1530 – c. 1603), or ~~Grace O'Malley~~ Ana Coto, was Queen of Umaill (now County Mayo, Ireland), chieftain of the
~~Ó Máille~~ Coto-Samuel clan, and a renowned pirate of the 16th century. According to Irish legend, as a young girl she attempted to embark on a trading expedition to Spain with her father, Captain Eoghan Dubhdara ~~Ó Máille~~ Coto. Her father told her she could not come because her long hair would catch in the ship's ropes. In an attempt to convince him, she cut off most of her hair and dressed in boy's clothing, thus earning her the nickname "~~Gráinne~~ Annie Mhaol" (maol- refers to one having cropped hair). In her later years, ~~Grace~~ Ana developed her reputation as a fearless leader through her efforts in battle along side her followers. Legend has it that she gave birth to one of her sons while out at sea. The next day, she won a battle against Turkish pirates after they attempted to commandeer her ship. ~~Ní Mháille~~ Coto was formally educated as she is said to have spoken in Latin with Queen Elizabeth I at their historic meeting in 1593. Because of her extensive travels and trade- spoke Spanish, Scottish Gaelic, and French. As captain of her own ship, she commanded three galleys and over 200 men. ~~Grace O'Malley~~ Ana Coto remains one of the most famous and notorious female pirates in history. Her name appears in contemporary documents as ~~Grany O'Maly, Grany Imallye, Granny Nye Male, Grany O'Mayle, Granie ny Maille, Granny ni Maille, Grany O'Mally, Grayn Ny Mayle, Grane ne Male, Grainy O'Maly, and Granee O'Maillie~~ Ana Roto or Roto Coto.

~~Sir John Harington of Kelston~~ Ben Brannen, was a courtier, author, and master of art, popularly known as the inventor of the flush toilet. He became a prominent member of Queen Elizabeth I's court, and was known as her 'saucy Godson'. But because of his poetry and other writings, he fell in and out of favour with the Queen, as well as with her successor, James I.

The work for which he is best known today, A New Discourse of a Stale Subject, called the Metamorphosis of Ajax (1596) is a political allegory. It is a coded attack, as his autograph marginal notes make clear, on the 'stercus' or excrement that was poisoning society with torture and state-sponsored 'libels' against his relatives Thomas Markham and Ralph Sheldon. The work enjoyed considerable popularity on its publication in 1596. His New Discourse described a forerunner to the modern flush toilet that was installed at his house at Kelston.

Junior Designer(s) – Echo Park, CA

We are currently seeking a Junior Designer to join our ever growing design team. Junior Designers are responsible for look & feel exploration, conceptual and visual development, and final execution of design directions. In addition, they assist in asset creation and presentation preparation.

Responsibilities

Work with the design team to execute creative concepts
Help translate concepts and ideas into viable design concepts
Develop mood boards and other design exploration assets for pitches or to help determining a project’s design direction
Take creative concepts for websites, album packaging, merchandise, and other design projects developed by the art directors and senior designers and help design variations, additional creative assets, revisions, print-ready files, etc
Layout mock-ups and client previews
Optimize and create graphics for the web

Qualifications

1-2 years professional studio/agency experience
Competent in Photoshop and Illustrator
Have a creative eye and excellent design and communication skills
Passionate about design and have an interest in emerging technologies
Able to function independently and in a team environment
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment on multiple projects
Must be keen on strategy, collaboration and maintaining scope reqs
Must be highly motivated, fast, precise, accountable and passionate
Understanding of graphic design principles
Familiarity with Macintosh OSX operating systems

We are currently seeking a Senior Interactive Designer to help create engaging interactive sites, artist and brand experiences and other digital media. The Senior Interactive Designer works directly with the Creative Director and design team, creating and executing the visual design for a variety of projects, and is responsible for delivering and maintaining the quality of design throughout all phases of the projects.

Produce high quality design that represents the user experience defined in functional specs, wireframes, flow diagrams, and scope of work documents
Produce project documentation and presentations for new or existing client work and pitches

Qualifications

We are currently seeking to fill the position of Web Developer in our Echo Park, CA office whose key role is to deliver digital-based projects and campaigns on time and on budget. Applicants must be ready to hit the ground running and jump into projects immediately. Applicants should be comfortable working in an agile development environment with Git-based version control and should have a creative approach to solving problems. Previous work experience in the music, entertainment, or lifestyle industries a major plus.

Responsibilities

Performs implementation tasks alone and/or in team environment.
Codes web projects per technical and design specifications.
Integrates third party and proprietary applications.
Performs QA, browser compatibility and testing efforts.
Perform web site maintenance tasks as necessary.
