The site we just built for Linda Perry’s Deep Dark Robot, Deepdarkrobot.com, has won a daily CSS Design Award for 4/12! Sweet!
We’ve had the honor of working with Linda Perry and her team over at Custard on the new Deep Dark Robot site over the past month or so. This one was really fun to work on – Linda wanted to try something totally different and immersive, yet do it without Flash, keep the delivery of content quick, and do it with a tight CMS that she could use to quickly post from the road.
We opted to go with a WordPress again, but this time wrapping it in a multi-layered one-page style site (for you tech peeps, this is HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript-based Parallax scrolling). The effect worked really well with the album packaging art and desert photo shoot we were supplied with. Lots of integrations here too with Soundcloud, Topspin (using our new Topspin WordPress Store Plugin), YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook (Like Buttons and Comments).
We’re really proud of this one. Turned out great, a cool marriage of design and tech.

We’ve been busy putting this together for the past 24hr. Killer little Beastie Boys Topspin Pre-Order page, along with some minor tweaks to their site to match the new album art. And the launch of the new trailer for the upcoming long-ass video thing.
One night a couple of years back, when Jeff was sitting at home playing with Lola (The Uprising Creative’s mascot and HR person) and his original Blackberry Bold (RIP), he mysteriously caught a very possessed, dark side of her. This lo-res BlackBerry photo made it’s way to Adam, Adam and Mike of the group known as the Beastie Boys. They loved it and made a joke about how it should be a single cover for Make Some Noise, which was slated to be release on Hot Sauce Committee Part 1.
Well, as time would eventually tell, they were not joking, and it did become the single cover for Make Some Noise, but the version on Hot Sauce Committee Part 2, not the version on Part 1 (which has yet to be determined if/when it will be released). And now, Make Some Noise has been released to the public, along with the cover featuring Demon Lola.
AWOLNATION‘s new album, Megalithic Symphony, is out in stores now. Go grab the digital download here.
We did the album packaging on this one and we’ll try to get some product shots up soon. But if you can grab a physical copy of it, please do. We were able to go a little crazy on this one, doing an embossed cover, satin coating, spot UV, and glow in the dark accents. No other label is really supprting artist development and special packaging the way Red Bull Records is these days and we’re stoked to get the freedom we get with them. This one turned out great and the process that went into creating this was pretty epic.
